Jiyane<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sports Reporter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200eIn a historic milestone for Zimbabwean sport, Bulawayo has become the first Province to field a team to compete directly against government ministries in the 2025 Inter-Ministerial Games, held from October 6 to 10 at the United College of Education (UCE).<br>\u200e<br>\u200eOrganised by the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, the annual sporting event brought together 26 government ministries and six parastatals for five days of spirited competition, wellness promotion, and social engagement.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThis year\u2019s games ran under the theme \u201cFitness First: Strengthening Bones through Sports and Wellness,\u201d with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development championing the message of physical fitness and teamwork among civil servants.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThe atmosphere at United College of Education (UCE) was electric, as men and women from various ministries stepped out of their offices and onto the playing fields.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThe event featured a range of sports, including men\u2019s soccer, volleyball for both genders, women\u2019s netball, tug of war, and darts.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eCivil servants competed within and across ministries, with matchups such as the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture facing off against the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eSpeaking on the sidelines of the games, Patience Mudzwera from the Ministry of Agriculture expressed appreciation for the event\u2019s impact on wellness:<br>\u200e<br>\u200e\u201cThese games help us maintain our health and wellness. I\u2019m participating in athletics and volleyball, and I\u2019m really excited to be part of this year\u2019s event,\u201d she said.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eBeyond the sporting action, the event also created space for local entrepreneurs and creatives to showcase their work.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eAmong them was Mr. Takunda Chiduwa, founder and designer of the Great Zimbabweans brand, who said the event offered a powerful platform for business exposure.<br>\u200e<br>\u200e\u201cI design and create T-shirts, caps, bags, and hats that feature Zimbabwean monuments to promote tourism and national identity.
