HARARE \u2013 Robert Tinotenda Mugabe, the son of the late former President Robert Mugabe, has been granted US$300 bail by Harare Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki after being arrested for possession of cannabis with an estimated street value of US$30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mugabe, who had been in custody, was released with specific bail conditions. He is required to report once every Friday to the CID Drugs and Narcotics division and must reside at a given address until the matter is finalized. He is scheduled to return to court on October 22, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the State’s case, the arrest occurred on October 1, 2025, after police officers from ZRP Avondale, conducting a traffic blitz along 2nd Street Extension, stopped Mugabe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutors told the court that Mugabe was stopped after he was seen driving against one-way, en route to town. A subsequent search of the black sling bag he was wearing led to the discovery of the illicit substances and paraphernalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA search of his black sling bag, which he was wearing on his chest, reportedly led to the discovery of two sachets of dagga, a pack of Rizla rolling papers and a white dagga crusher,\u201d the court heard. \u201cMugabe was subsequently arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following his arrest, Mugabe was issued an Exhibit Seizure Confirmation Receipt, which he reportedly refused to sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
