BULAWAYO \u2013 The Bulawayo Regional Court has sentenced a 39-year-old drug peddler to an effective five years in prison for dealing in crystal methamphetamine, in a case that highlights the ongoing fight against the city’s drug scourge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tyron Siegfried Pigors of Matsheumhlophe was arrested on March 6, 2025, after police, acting on a tip-off, raided his home. Officers discovered 1.2 kilogrammes of crystal meth, with an estimated street value of over US$6,000, concealed in various deceptive hiding spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The drugs were found stashed inside a fake dictionary safe box under his bed, a biscuit box, and a Puma shoe box hidden within a trunk. Police also seized two digital scales and a kitchen scale as evidence of his dealing operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presiding Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla handed Pigors an eight-year sentence, suspending three years on condition of good behaviour. In her ruling, she stated that his actions posed a serious threat to society and warranted a custodial sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conviction marks a significant victory for law enforcement in Bulawayo, which continues to grapple with the devastating impact of drug and substance abuse on communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
