Zim GBC News can exclusively reveal that the offices of Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe were raided by heavily armed operatives in a late-night operation on Tuesday, a move insiders describe as a dramatic flare-up in ZANU-PF’s internal succession battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to multiple senior party sources who spoke to Zim GBC News on condition of anonymity, the raid occurred at the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters in Harare. Unidentified agents, backed by security personnel who sealed off the building, spent several hours searching the premises before leaving with computers, laptops, and sensitive documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident comes just days before the ruling party’s pivotal annual conference, where factional alignments are expected to be a major subtext.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Kazembe is widely perceived as a key ally and prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The raid is seen by analysts as a bold manoeuvre in the escalating power struggle between factions loyal to President Mnangagwa and those backing Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe timing is no coincidence,\u201d a senior ZANU-PF official aligned with the Mnangagwa camp told Zim GBC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is about intimidating the President\u2019s inner circle and sending a message that no one is untouchable. It\u2019s a direct challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Political observer Tendai Mbare commented on the implications, stating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Mnangagwa-Chiwenga rivalry, fuelled by the looming 2028 presidential succession, has moved from behind-the-scenes whispers to overt actions. Raiding a security minister’s office is an unprecedented escalation that threatens to destabilize the party’s fragile unity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Efforts by Zim GBC News to get an official comment from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Zimbabwe Republic Police were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
