Plumtree\u2013 The BuKalanga Liberation Movement (BLM) has voiced strong opposition to statements made by Mthuthuki Hikwa during the King Mzilikazi commemoration in the United Kingdom, accusing him of misrepresenting the identity of the Kalanga people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an open letter, BLM Secretary General Masimba Mbongolwane Dube condemned Hikwa\u2019s assertion that the BaKalanga are Ndebeles, calling it a \u201cblatant disregard for the history and identity of the Kalanga people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Call for Cultural Integrity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dube emphasized the distinction between the BaKalanga and Ndebeles, firmly stating,
\u201cThe BaKalanga are not Ndebeles and will never be, whether by association or otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Kalanga kingdom is very much alive, guided by our recognized chiefs, and external claims cannot diminish our heritage,\u201d Dube stated, reinforcing the idea that the Kalanga identity is distinct and vital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
