The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) has announced that its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on October 22 at the Convergence Hall within the Harare Show Grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting comes at a critical juncture for the organization, which is at the forefront of advocating for the rights of music creators, including composers, writers, and publishers across the nation. The AGM will feature elections for the board of directors, a process that will determine the association’s leadership and strategic direction for the coming term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an official statement, Zimura’s Director of Information and Publicity, Alexio \u201cGoodChild\u201d Gwenzi, urged all members to participate in this significant event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDuring this crucial election, members will shape the future of the organisation through their ballots, potentially electing a new chairperson,\u201d said Gwenzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOnce all new board members have been selected, they will then vote among themselves to choose a chairperson and a vice chairperson. Only registered Zimura members with valid identification will be permitted to attend the meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outcome of the elections is highly anticipated, as the new board will be tasked with addressing ongoing debates surrounding royalty distribution and the broader welfare of artists in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current Zimura board is chaired by renowned poet and musician Albert Nyathi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
