Eltah Nengomasha has resigned from her position as Director General of the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), the regulatory body announced on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nengomasha, who was appointed to the role in March 2023, had recently been reinstated after a year-long suspension for misconduct that began in March 2024. Although she had been serving a three-month notice period set to end in October, her departure comes earlier than anticipated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a farewell message, Nengomasha expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am grateful for the opportunity to have served my country in the realm of sports administration,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wish the sector all the best in its endeavours. Sport is richer because of the synergies created.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SRC acknowledged her contributions in a statement, crediting her with \u201cstrengthening governance structures and boosting stakeholder engagement\u201d during her tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Mudzimiri, the Commission\u2019s Director of Legal and Corporate Services, has been appointed Acting Director General with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SRC confirmed that a process to recruit a permanent replacement will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
