BEITBRIDGE \u2013 The community of Tshidixwa suburb in Beitbridge is in shock following a tragic murder-suicide incident involving a local businessman, Mr. Farai Longwe, popularly known as “Mr Grocery”, and his wife on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the incident occurred just before midnight when Longwe locked himself in a bedroom with his wife and shot her dead before turning the gun on himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beitbridge district police officer commanding, Chief Superintendent Mesuli Ncube, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have deployed a special team of detectives to the ground and I am yet to get full details. We will advise on further details at a later stage,\u201d said Chief Supt Ncube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources indicate that the police were alerted by the landlord who heard gunshots emanating from Longwe’s bedroom. The motive behind the tragic incident remains unknown at this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Longwe was well-known in the community for operating a chain of grocery shops in Beitbridge’s western suburbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
