BINGA \u2013 The Binga Rural District Council (RDC) has announced a major drive to repossess more than 100 undeveloped residential and commercial stands from owners who have failed to develop them over the past six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an official notice, Binga RDC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Joshua Muzamba stated that the move targets 99 residential and three commercial stands, which will be reallocated to applicants on the council’s housing waiting list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Binga Rural District Council, through Binga Local Board, wishes to inform all individuals who were allocated residential and commercial stands in Binga Township over six years ago that it intends to repossess all undeveloped stands for reallocation,\u201d said Mr. Muzamba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Affected stand owners have been given 30 days from the date of the notice to make representations to the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOwners of the identified stands should also present proof of payment to the council for verification,\u201d he added, warning that failure to comply would result in repossession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate development, the council also announced plans to auction 40 stray livestock, including cattle, sheep and goats, that have been impounded across various business centres in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The notice stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNotice is hereby given that in terms of the Rural District Council Act (Chapter 23:13), as read with the Stock Trespass Act, Binga Rural District Council will be conducting an auction sale for stray livestock in Kabuba, Zuka, Siampongo, Ntundazi, Lusulu, Zyakamana, Sikomena, Siabuwa and Kalungwizi business centres.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The twin initiatives aim to address land utilization issues and manage stray livestock in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
