BULAWAYO \u2013 The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are investigating a case of sudden death involving a 37-year-old man from Gwabalanda who was found hanging in his bedroom after a family discussion concerning his drinking habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Andrew Sibanda, was discovered on the evening of 7 September 2025 at his residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe had been in the company of his 16-year-old son and his 44-year-old elder brother from Nkulumane 10, who had come to visit,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elder brother had earlier counselled Andrew Sibanda, warning him about the dangers of consuming outlawed alcohol, commonly known as njengu. Andrew is said to have promised to stop drinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShortly after his brother left, he went to his bedroom, where he used a black insulated telephone copper cable to hang himself from the roof truss,\u201d said the Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His lifeless body was discovered around 8 PM by his 21-year-old nephew, who also resides at the same address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After police attended the scene, the body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospital for a post-mortem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As this case unfolds, authorities have urged members of the public to seek professional help when facing personal challenges rather than resorting to suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
