HARARE \u2013 A foreign national has been arrested by detectives from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in connection with the theft of US$16,000 from a parked car in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect, identified as Lama Gabriel Gabi (40), was arrested on 30 August 2025 following a tip-off received by police. He is alleged to have stolen the substantial sum of cash from a Toyota Hilux that was parked at Greenfield Shopping Centre on 14 May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement confirming the arrest, the ZRP said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn 30\/08\/25, detectives from Harare acted on a tip and arrested Lama Gabriel Gabi (40), a foreign national, in connection with a case of theft from a motor vehicle which occurred at Greenfield Shopping Centre in Harare on 14\/05\/25.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police further reported that a search of the suspect led to the recovery of key evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe detectives searched the suspect and recovered a destabilizer remote control and three car keys, including one for a Honda Accent vehicle,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrest highlights the continued efforts by police to combat crimes targeting motorists. Investigations are ongoing, with the ZRP stating that “more details [are] to be availed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
