BULAWAYO, ZIMBABWE -The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo have confirmed the arrest of two men found with stolen copper cables during a routine roadblock on the Bulawayo-Gwanda Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tafadzwa Bamu (34) of Zinyengere Extension, Epworth, Harare, and Beven Dzviti (26) of Kotsworld, Mhangura, were apprehended on the night of 1 September 2025 at around 11:58 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOfficers manning the roadblock stopped the pair, who were walking towards the Bulawayo Central Business District (CBD), and conducted a search\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the suspects were found carrying 16 rolls of copper in their satchels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDuring interrogation, both men confessed to stealing the copper cables from a farm in Gwanda, leading to their immediate arrest,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the case unfolds, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned the public against the theft and purchase of stolen copper cables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis act disrupts essential services and causes serious financial losses. We urge members of the public to avoid this crime. Anyone found with stolen property will face the full force of the law\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case highlights the ongoing challenge authorities face with copper cable theft, a widespread problem affecting utilities and businesses across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
