{"id":873,"date":"2022-06-17T14:59:53","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T14:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=873"},"modified":"2022-06-17T14:59:55","modified_gmt":"2022-06-17T14:59:55","slug":"breaking-zimbabwe-suspended-from-global-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=873","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: ZIMBABWE SUSPENDED FROM GLOBAL FOOTBALL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24 February 2022<br>Innocent Sibonginkosi Ncube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zimbabwe Football Association, (ZIFA) has been suspended from the international football grouping, FIFA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspension was confirmed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino because of government interference in the running of the country&#8217;s football affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zimbabwe is suspended along fellow African Country, Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confirming the suspension, Infantino said, in Kenya, the Ministry of Sports under Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohamed, suspended the Football Kenya Federation last year and appointed a caretaker committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/chat.whatsapp.com\/CxzTaQ21Qwq1wNewwfhwFE\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While in Zimbabwe ZIFA was suspended by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We had to suspend two of our members, Kenya and Zimbabwe, both for government interference in the activities of football associations. The associations are suspended with immediate effect,&#8221; said Infantino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They know what needs to be done for them to be readmitted or do for suspensions to be lifted.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that Zimbabwe is no longer legible to participate in any international football activities, including those sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week the chairperson of the SRC, Gerald Mlotshwa, who is President Mnangagwa&#8217;s son in law snubbed the Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Parlimentary Portfolio Committee citing short notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was supposed to give oral evidence on the dire state of Sporting activities in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mlotshwa has since been charged with contempt of parliament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>24 February 2022Innocent Sibonginkosi Ncube.
