BULAWAYO \u2013 The Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP), have arrested three suspects in connection with the theft of car parts valued at USD$20,000 from a local bus company garage in Kelvin North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police statement, the suspects Nhlanhla Ndebele(24), Jethro Kapfumvuti(26), and Mthabisi Ndebele(30) allegedly stole various parts from Toyota Quantum and Toyota Hiace vehicles on different dates between June and 24 August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspects, two from Tshabalala and one from Iminyela suburbs, gained entry into the garage on different dates and stole car parts from parked vehicles,\u201d said Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police were reportedly tipped off on 25 August and quickly arrested Nhlanhla Ndebele, who later implicated his co-accused. Investigations led to the recovery of some stolen parts from the suspects homes and tyre service providers. However, only property worth USD$1,600 was recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities have warned second-hand goods dealers against purchasing stolen items, saying it fuels criminal activities in communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe strongly warn second-hand goods dealers to stop buying stolen property from criminals as it is a crime and encourages more theft,\u201dsaid Thandekile Ndlovu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This case highlights that crime is not just an act of individual opportunity but is often supply-driven by demand, making some members of the business community unintentional or intentional accomplices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
