Bulawayo- A disturbing case of road rage turned into violence in Rangemore on the night of 10 August 2025, after a 41-year-old motorist was targeted by unknown attackers following a light exchange on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP) statement, the victim was driving his white Honda Civic along Josephine Road at around 9PM when he encountered a silver Toyota Noah travelling in the opposite direction. An exchange of headlight flashes and verbal insults reportedly triggered the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three suspects in the Toyota Noah made a U-turn and approached the complainant. When they caught up with him, one of the suspects sprayed pepper spray into his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However according to the report, the complainant managed to drive to a nearby friend\u2019s house, where he left the vehicle and fled on foot into a bushy area after the suspects attempted to run him over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attackers reportedly vandalised the vehicle, smashing windows and lights with bricks and slashing all four tyres with a knife. They stole a 12-volt battery from the car and attempted to force the complainant\u2019s friend to reveal his location. One of the suspects fired a shot in the air and threatened to return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This incident serves as a reminder of how quickly minor road disagreements can escalate into dangerous situations, and highlights the importance of maintaining composure while driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector Nomalanga Msebele has urged the public to remain calm on the roads and avoid taking the law into their own hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe urge members of the public not to take the law into their own hands but to always respect other road users and obey the law,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
