Bulawayo \u2013 The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, represented President Emmerson Mnangagwa at today\u2019s Heroes Day commemoration at Nkulumane Shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marking Zimbabwe\u2019s 45th National Heroes Day, the event honours “our gallant sons and daughters who paid the supreme price for liberation and the freedom we enjoy today,” stated Minister Ncube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preserving Heritage, Driving Development<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Second Republic is spearheading shrine construction nationwide to preserve liberation heritage, with Sigombela and Whawha among completed sites. Minister Ncube declared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The duty to thrive, industrialize, and build a prosperous economy lies with all of us. Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.” (A nation is built by its own people).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She urged collective action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I call upon all citizens to spearhead economic growth, employment, and wealth creation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Economic Sovereignty & Mining Pledge<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reaffirming Zimbabwe\u2019s anti-colonial stance, Ncube vowed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Neo-colonialism will never gain a foothold in our nation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting mining\u2019s 13.3% GDP contribution and role in employing millions, she pledged:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are determined to translate mineral wealth into national economic benefits.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Energy & Infrastructure Focus<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister cited progress in energy self-sufficiency through a power-generation matrix complemented by independent producers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We applaud private players installing industrial-scale solar units, boosting our power supply.” She emphasized efficient transport infrastructure as critical for “smooth movement of goods and people.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflecting on Liberation Legacy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 45th commemoration allows Zimbabwe to “take stock of strides toward realizing the goals for which heroes sacrificed,” Ncube noted, acknowledging that while political independence was won in 1980, “the economic struggle continues.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, themed “Our Heroes, Our Liberation, Our Pride,” underscored national unity in pursuing the heroes\u2019 vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
