The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has reignited its decades-long push for independence from Zimbabwe, formally petitioning the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to mediate negotiations with the Harare government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNoting the central role that Britain played in destroying Mthwakazi, I further request SADC to invite the office of His Majesty, King Charles, and UK representatives,\u201d Moyo wrote .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SADC secretariat acknowledged receipt of the petition on May 20 but has yet to issue a public response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This marks the MRP\u2019s second appeal to the bloc, following a similar petition in September 2023 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
