Paddonhurst Woman Sentenced for Stealing from Brother<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BULAWAYO \u2013 A 31-year-old woman from the Paddonhurst suburb has been sentenced to nine months in prison for stealing R4,000 from her brother. Nothabo Ndlovu, who had been living with her brother, took advantage of his absence to commit the crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, Ndlovu hired a locksmith to break open her brother\u2019s safe and stole the money along with some important documents. During the sentencing, Bulawayo magistrate Mr. Abednico Ndebele expressed leniency towards Ndlovu, as it was her first offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFirst-time offenders are rewarded by leniency,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Ndebele suspended four months of the sentence on the condition that Ndlovu restitutes the stolen money to her brother, Mr. Sifanele Dlamini, by the end of March. An additional five months of her sentence was suspended for three years, provided she does not commit a similar crime during that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In mitigation, Ndlovu explained her actions, stating she is a single mother of one and stole the money out of desperation to support her son\u2019s financial needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI did it out of necessity,\u201d she said, highlighting her challenging circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutor Ms. Nkanyezi Xaba recounted the events leading to Ndlovu’s arrest, stating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn January 28 this year, Mr. Dlamini left for Harare where he works. When he returned, he discovered the theft and reported the case to the police, which led to the accused\u2019s arrest.\u201d Dlamini managed to recover his documents but was left prejudiced by the loss of R4,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
