A woman was fatally assaulted after refusing to call it a day at a local bar in Trenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that on 15 January Khethiwe Moyo (61) was physically assaulted with open hands and a sjambok in a bushy area in Trenance Suburb by Stewart Munyapwa (32) who has since been arrested for the murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The suspect fatally assaulted the victim, Khethiwe Moyo (61) with open hands and a sjambok while on their way home from a local bar after a drinking binge.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Police statement revealed that the two had a heated argument after Moyo refused to go back home as she wanted to continue drinking at the bar until the wee hours of the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a related matter on the same day the 15th of this month ZRP reports that Patrick Ngulube (52) was arrested for allegedly murdering Khauhelo Sibanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sibanda who was Ngulube’s ex-wife was fatally struck with a sharp object that police have not yet not identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident happened during the night at Zimbili B, Gadade Village, Fort Rixon Matabeleland South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police statement states that Ngulube pounced at ex-wife Sibanda’s house and fatally struck her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The motive of the murder has not been established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murder cases have been on the increase lately. Gone are the days when human beings respected the sanctity of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the case if the Trenance suburb murder, what baffles the mind is the fact that the government enforced a curfew running from 10pm to 5am in line with Covid-19 regulations, bars and drinking places are supposed to be closed by then. How then does a bar in a small suburban area of Trenance open into the wee hours if the morning?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What are the law enforcers doing about such bars? How come such a bar opens until late right under the nose of the police?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After all Trenance is a small suburb bringing such bars into book would be quite achievable if more effort was to be placed by the ZRP policing the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
