Warriors doctors delivers good news concerning Kudakwashe Mahachi.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was an injury scare in the Warriors team when Kudakwashe Mahachi collided with an opponent in a friendly match against the hosts in Cameron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahachi had to be replaced as the team doctor said he suffered a ‘thigh contusion’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe men’s football team, Warriors played against Sudan in a goalless draw in preparation for the forthcoming AFCON tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe will play their first group match against Senegal on Monday 10 January 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meantime Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza was happy with the team’s perfomance in the friendly match against the Sudanese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think the guys played very well, especially in the first half. We had some very clear cut chances, unfortunately maybe the sharpness is not yet there. But I\u2019m more than pleased with the performance,\u201d Mapeza said postmatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe organisation at the back, the midfield where I think we need to work more and then going forward we had so many opportunities today. There was a lot of creativity in especially the first half. Overally I\u2019m happy with the performance of the boys,\u201d he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe created a lot of chances during the match, unfortunately they failed to convert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prince Dube, Onisimore Bhasera and Takudzwa Chimwemwe showed ability that they deserve to be in that AFCON squad though they failed score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, Zimbabwe suffered two injuries in Kudakwashe Mahachi and Talbert Shumba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Onisimor Bhasera came in for Mahachi, as Patrick Mhari replaced Shumba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe are still negotiating with the host nation Cameroon for another friendly game which might be played on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This afternoon, Warriors doctor Nicholas Munyonga delivered good news concerning Mahachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Kudakwashe Mahachi should be ready for the Warriors\u2019 first game of the Afcon 2021 against Senegal on Monday.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Mahachi sustained a thigh contusion, which should take a maximum of three days to heal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s nothing serious. It\u2019s a thigh contusion that resulted from a collision with an opponent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe should be okay in the next two to three days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations finals participation is in jeopardy after FIFA warned last month it would impose swift sanctions over what it said was government interference in the suspension of the ZIFA board led by Felton Kamambo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) was given an ultimatum to restore the ZIFA Board by FIFA, on or before 3 January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FIFA maintains that \u201cit is up to FIFA alone, on the basis of serious and well-founded information as well as under special circumstances, to remove executive bodies of member associations and appoint normalisation committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the impasse still unresolved are the Warriors going to partake in the AFCON or not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
