The national broadcaster has attempted to make the payment process more convenient, stating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Paying for your television and radio licence is now more practical, accessible and stress-free than ever.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have introduced several payment methods, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Online payments via their website: ZBC Licensing \u2022 https:\/\/licensing.zbc.co.zw<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ecocash USSD *151#, selecting option 2 for payments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In-person payments at various locations, including Zimpost, Econet shops, insurance outlets, and ZBC offices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly released annual fees for ZBC licenses are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Television license for business premises \u2013 US$200<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Company car radio license \u2013 US$200<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicle radio and TV license \u2013 US$200<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business premises radio license \u2013 US$100<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Home radio and TV license \u2013 US$100<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private car radio license \u2013 US$92<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Urban home radio license \u2013 US$40<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rural home radio license \u2013 US$20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In a significant move, the government is also amending the Broadcasting Services Act to prohibit the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) from selling licenses and to prevent insurance companies from issuing policies to motorists without valid ZBC radio licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with many taking to social media to express their frustrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One user, Sam, humorously suggested,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease slash one zero on all the prices\ud83e\udd15,\u201d highlighting the perceived exorbitance of the fees. Another user, Choto, questioned the enforcement of home licenses, asking, \u201cHow do they enforce home licenses? Surely, no one pays those.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Veelo added to the conversation with a sarcastic remark, \u201cWhy not price in zig?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Edmore raised a practical concern: \u201cGuys ndokumbirawo kubvunza, ko ndikabvisa radio yacho mumotor ndobhadhara here?\u201d (Translation: \u201cCan I ask, if I remove the radio from my car, do I still have to pay?\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mufudza pointed out the disparity between the fees and the earnings of essential workers, stating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo home radio + TV and car radio is almost 200 USD.
