“The accused returned from an all-night prayer session to find her husband and the deceased in their matrimonial bed, half-naked. Enraged, she attacked the deceased with fists and later grabbed a kitchen knife.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mkandhla’s husband stated in court,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I tried to calm her down and managed to disarm her, but they continued arguing. I left them, thinking the situation would calm down, but unfortunately, it escalated.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fatal Attack<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mkandhla armed herself with a second knife, stabbing the victim multiple times in the head, breast, and back. The victim fled but collapsed on the street and died from her injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe urged the public to avoid violence, saying,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge’s Verdict<\/p>\n\n\n\n
High Court Judge, Justice Nicholas Mathonsi, handed down the 10-year sentence, emphasizing, “The accused’s actions were premeditated and intentional. The court must balance justice with mercy, considering the severity of the crime.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mkandhla’s lawyer argued for leniency, citing her client’s provocation and emotional distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
