{"id":4428,"date":"2024-10-02T11:56:27","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T11:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4428"},"modified":"2024-10-02T11:56:30","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T11:56:30","slug":"shocking-weekend-attacks-leave-bulawayo-victims-grasping-at-straws-as-police-launch-manhunt-on-assailants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4428","title":{"rendered":"Shocking Weekend Attacks Leave Bulawayo Victims Grasping At Straws As Police Launch Manhunt On Assailants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>Nkosentsha Khumalo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The streets of Bulawayo were painted in blood this past weekend as three vicious and unprovoked attacks left innocent citizens fighting for their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/chat.whatsapp.com\/Go6DwqhAmyP8PAm9kKc7TR\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bulawayo Police have reported three incidents of attempted murder over the weekend, which left victims with severe injuries and requiring hospitalization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Victims were left with severe injuries, including deep stab wounds, cuts to the head, and bruises all over their bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first incident occurred at around 9 pm on Saturday, 16th September, when a 46 year old man from Burnside, Bulawayo, was lured to a local Sports bar by two suspects, Lameck Mguni (32) of Douglasdale and his unknown accomplice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon his arrival at the bar, Mguni and his accomplice invited the victim to join them in collecting girls of the night from Starling Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the three men walked away from the bar, Mguni&#8217;s accomplice grabbed an iron bar from a nearby bush and began to viciously assault the victim, landing blows all over his body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the victim fell to the ground, Mguni drew an okapi knife from his pocket and repeatedly stabbed the man in the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After brutally assaulting and stabbing the victim, Mguni and his accomplice abandoned the scene of the crime, leaving their victim lying on the ground, bleeding heavily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim was left to fend for himself until he received assistance and was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being severely injured, the victim managed to seek help and report the incident to the local police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assailants, however still remain at large as police continue in their concerted struggle to locate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, which included a swollen head, deep cuts on the head, a cut on the nose, and bruises on his hands and legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second incident, which took place on Sunday, 17th September, at 1 am, 36 year old Emakhandeni resident Godfrey Manyoka accused a 29 year old man of being romantically involved with his girlfriend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manyoka, who was already at the complainant&#8217;s residence, confronted the younger man about his suspicions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with Manyoka drawing an okapi knife from his pants pocket and stabbing the complainant multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manyoka&#8217;s attack left the complainant with serious injuries on his back, right chest, and right leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim&#8217;s condition was critical, and he was immediately rushed to Mpilo Hospital for emergency treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A police report was filed, and Manyoka was promptly apprehended and charged with attempted murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The knife allegedly used in the attack was also recovered as evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The complainant remains in a serious condition in the hospital, and the outcome of his recovery is uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third incident occurred early Sunday morning, at around 4 am, in Kenbec, Umguza, where two female friends, aged 22, were returning home after attending a party in the same neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As they were walking, they were accosted by four unidentified male adults, who began to hurl stones at them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the chaos, one of the women managed to escape from the assailants and ran away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two of the attackers gave chase, leaving the other two behind to continue assaulting the second woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The remaining two assailants continued to viciously attack the second woman, leaving her bleeding on the ground with serious injuries to her head, face, and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The woman remained unconscious for about an hour, until her friend returned with relatives to check on her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They found the woman in a critical state, with a deep cut to her forehead, a swollen face, and bleeding eyes. Blood stains covered her body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The relatives promptly reported the incident to the police, but the attackers remain at large and are still yet to be identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Carrying dangerous weapons is prohibited.
