As uncertainty in the country’s economic situation in the country continues unabated, majors companies are streamlining their business processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First it was Unilever, now Nestle Zimbabwe has followed suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nestl\u00e9 is selling its iconic Cremora brand to Lactalis SA, a French group, as part of a “strategic realignment” affecting its divisions in South Africa and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This strategic realignment will ensure the Harare facility remains an integral part of Nestl\u00e9’s efforts to drive future investments and sustainable development within Zimbabwe,” said Nestl\u00e9 in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mota Mota, Nestl\u00e9’s Head of External Communications, explained,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This decision was reached after considering various factors and was not taken lightly. We believe that Cremora is in good hands with Lactalis SA, a leading food company known for its expertise and commitment to excellence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sale is part of Nestl\u00e9’s strategy to remain competitive in the market, and the company has given assurances that job security, remuneration, and benefits will remain unaffected in the affected businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nestl\u00e9 will continue to produce other products, such as Nestl\u00e9 Everyday and Cerevita, at its Harare plant, but the production of Cremora will be discontinued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lactalis SA, the new owner of Cremora, is a leading food company that produces brands such as Parmalat, Melrose, Steri Stumpie, and Bonnita, which are widely distributed in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sale of Cremora is part of a larger trend of multinationals shifting their strategy in Africa, driven by rising local competition and shifting consumer demand for global brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
