{"id":4220,"date":"2024-09-16T09:56:52","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4220"},"modified":"2024-09-16T09:56:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:56:57","slug":"mvuma-residents-express-outrage-as-zanu-pf-councilors-snub-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4220","title":{"rendered":"Mvuma Residents Express Outrage as Zanu PF Councilors Snub Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>Political Correspondent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents of Mvuma are furious after their councilors failed to attend a meeting organized by the Mvuma Residents and Ratepayers Association (MRRA) to address pressing issues in the small mining town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only one councilor, Wonder Chiverengo, out of 33, showed up at the meeting held at Mushayabvudzi Stadium, leaving residents feeling ignored and disrespected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chirumhanzu RDC chairman claimed he was unable to attend due to other commitments, further fueling residents&#8217; frustration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MRRA Chairman, Leave Madzura, condemned the councilors&#8217; lack of concern, saying,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are greatly disappointed by our urban councilors who have a habit of snubbing residents&#8217; meetings. It would be nice if they came and we shared our concerns to move forward as a town.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting aimed to discuss critical issues, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Naming of roads in town<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need for a secondary school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By-law to control stray animals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overall improvement in service delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Madzura emphasized, &#8220;The meeting was meant to address a range of issues affecting residents and implore the local authority to improve service delivery. It&#8217;s unacceptable that our councilors didn&#8217;t see fit to attend.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents are demanding accountability and better representation from their elected officials. As one resident noted, &#8220;We pay rates and expect our councilors to listen to our concerns and act on them.
