{"id":4210,"date":"2024-09-16T09:41:16","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4210"},"modified":"2024-09-16T09:41:25","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:41:25","slug":"authorities-crack-down-on-illicit-full-body-scan-services-in-zimbabwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=4210","title":{"rendered":"Authorities Crack Down on Illicit &#8220;Full Body Scan&#8221; Services in Zimbabwe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>Health Reporter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Health Professions Authority Zimbabwe (HPA) and Medicines Control Authority Zimbabwe (MCAZ) are joining forces with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to raid premises offering unauthorized &#8220;full body scan&#8221; services, also known as magnetic resonance services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We urge the public to shun these services, as they pose a serious risk of misdiagnosis and mistreatment,&#8221; said a joint statement from HPA and MCAZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The authorities warn that unqualified personnel are using dubious machines to prescribe and sell medicines for chronic conditions, contravening several statutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Diagnosis and prescribing should only be conducted by qualified and licensed personnel,&#8221; emphasized the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HPA and MCAZ remind the public to seek medical advice and treatment only from registered health professionals and institutions, identifiable by valid practicing certificates and licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is an offence for an unlicensed individual to diagnose, treat, and sell medicines to the public,&#8221; warned the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raids will be conducted to confiscate equipment and prosecute those operating illegally.
