The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has issued a stern warning against the illegal practice of door-to-door LPG filling, citing serious risks to public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“There is no operator who is licensed to conduct filling of LPG at people’s homes,” said ZERA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This practice is not only illegal, but it’s also a recipe for disaster.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ZERA has witnessed a disturbing increase in accidents caused by mishandling LPG in homes, resulting in severe injuries, deaths, and significant damage to property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Filling LPG gas cylinders in residential areas without proper authorization and safety measures is a ticking time bomb,” said ZERA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We urge the public to report any individuals or companies involved in such activities to the police or ZERA itself.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ZERA emphasized that retail filling of LPG must be conducted at inspected, designated, and licensed sites, where safety protocols are strictly adhered to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Filling premises for LPG need to be inspected and approved by respective local authority fire departments,” said ZERA. “This ensures that all safety standards are met, minimizing the risk of accidents.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While door-to-door filling is prohibited, ZERA clarified that the delivery of pre-filled cylinders and the collection of empty cylinders by licensed retailers are permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Choose safety over convenience,” said ZERA. “Avoid illegal LPG filling practices and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
