{"id":3625,"date":"2024-08-07T15:40:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T15:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=3625"},"modified":"2024-08-07T15:40:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T15:40:02","slug":"new-law-in-effect-as-chipinge-man-sent-prison-for-having-sex-with-underage-girl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=3625","title":{"rendered":"New Law in Effect As Chipinge Man Sent Prison for Having Sex with Underage Girl"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>Harare Court Correspondent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 35-year-old man from Chipinge, Manicaland Province has been sentenced to 2 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl from his village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the accused met the minor at a local shop in February 2024 and proposed a romantic relationship, to which she agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The accused person took the complainant to his house where they had sexual intercourse twice overnight,&#8221; said the NPAZ in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The complainant&#8217;s cousin discovered that she did not sleep at home and upon enquiry, the complainant revealed that she slept at the accused person&#8217;s house and that they had sexual intercourse.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accused was sentenced to 3 years in prison, but will only serve 2 years.
