Who has throughout her career shared the stage with Black Umfolosi, LaDee, Novuyo Seagirl, Msizikay, and Rockie Doub.

MY FIRST CHILDHOOD MEMORY…

It’s having Hawaiian pizza from Pizza Inn with a strawberry milkshake from Cream Inn with my family. It was a special treat to share something you normally wouldn’t eat in the warm company of the people you treasured most as a child.

MY FIRST CHILDHOOD IDOL…

It’s my mother. I think it is natural for a child to idolize their mother. She was such a unique blend of tomboy, street smart, and sophisticated bookworm lady. Yeah, she was my idol. Her list of friends seemed endless and she was always so stylish.

MY FIRST MUSIC HERO…

It’s Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Seeing her music video for EGO made me want to be a singer too. I say too because originally I wanted to be a dancer. A ballerina. I did classes and I had seen my dad perform as a singer and dancer. But I guess what made me drawn to Beyoncé’s way of mixing dance and singing was her confidence and being a female. I had never seen a woman in that powerful state.

MY FIRST INSTRUMENT….

It’s my voice. Meanwhile, I’m learning Keys and Mbira. I can also play African drums as well…

MY FIRST SCHOOL…

It’s Vukuzenkele Kindergarten then went to Robert Tradgold Primary School. It was the ideal place cause it was close to Makhokhoba where my great-grandmother lives and also close to Rose Camp where my mom worked, which made picking me up after school very convenient.

MY FIRST BEST FRIEND….

It was Khanyakude Sithole. I met her at primary. She was a total rockstar. A few months older than me and stayed in town. We would sometimes go to her place while her mom was at work as a nurse and just have the best time. I had never seen someone so independent at that age. She could cook as she was mostly alone. I looked up to her.

MY FIRST HEARTBREAK…

It’s my mom’s passing. Death is a different kind of heartbreak. Especially if you’re young and not fully aware of what’s going on. No man has ever broken my heart more than the passing of my mother.

MY FIRST TIME CRYING AS AN ADULT….

It’s probably while watching a movie, I’m a softy(Kkkk). If it’s a romcom with a grand romantic gesture or if it’s a best friend sacrificing their life for the greater good then I’m all tears. My siblings always make fun of me for it(😅🤦).

MY FIRST CD….

It’s that of an Indie group called Chick Gamine from Canada that my dad brought for me. It’s a French-speaking group though they had some English songs in there. It was just such a perfect blend of jazz, harmony, and overall brilliant music arrangement…

MY FIRST PET…

It’s Whitey. He was the tiniest of the puppies. The underdog and that’s what I liked about him. We had had dogs before but he was my first dog that I didn’t share and I loved it.

MY FIRST TIME RECORDING…

It was with P2daoh when I was 16. My dad took me there as I had written a song titled Beautiful. Looking back on it all, the song was beautifully written but poorly sung. I was young, nervous, and all over the place but I don’t regret it. It was a stepping stone and sometimes the first step isn’t always the easiest.

MY FIRST JOB…

It’s working as a waitress at Mapiko Bar and Restaurant. I needed the money to fund the production of my EP; High On Oxy vol1. It wasn’t a lot of money but it was mine and that gave me pride knowing that I had earned it by myself.

Her music can be accessed at :
https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/luchishiki/yim-lo?utm_source=SendGrid&utm_medium=Email+&utm_campaign=website

Luchi plans on making more music and living the best life but impacting people’s lives positively along the way.

She ventured into music at the age of sixteen and has not looked back since.

Zim GBC News 2023©

MY FIRST TIME SERIES WITH….
