Hampden, Harare was arrested at the weekend after his 23 year old girlfriend pointed an accusatory finger at him for rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim, Dyirakumunda&#8217;s girlfriend, is also a student at the University of Zimbabwe but currently is on attachment under Ministry of Local Government and Public Works in Harare<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim has since been referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;University of Zimbabwe student Takunda Dyirakumunda has been arrested as he rapped his lover,&#8221; said Inspector Chakanza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Circumstances are that the complainant and accused were girlfriend and boyfriend and are both students at the University of Zimbabwe,&#8221; added Inspector Chakanza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim is said to have invited Dyirakumunda to her workplace for an appointment on the 26th March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a way of showing his girlfriend his love, the accused went to the office around 5pm in the evening when everyone else had gone home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The accused person asked to have sexual intercourse with the complainant but the complainant refused,&#8221; said Inspector Chakanza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe accused person started caressing the complainant who was wearing a pair of jean trousers and ended up raping her without protection,&#8221; Inspector Chakanza said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because she thought that they were lover, the complainant did not say anything to anyone of the event and abuse of that day and chose to remain silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things turned different turn as on the 7 day of April the accused met the complainant to break up with her, this left her hurt and angry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then on the 8th day of April, the complainant lodged a police report against the accused leading to his arrest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JAYSON KARAN A 22 year old University student was arrested on Saturday after he was accused of rape.
