A routine customs inspection at Plumtree Border Post has led to the interception of a concealed and undeclared firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA routine customs inspection yesterday led to the discovery of a concealed and undeclared firearm hidden in a traveller\u2019s suitcase at the Plumtree Border Post.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interception has been attributed to the alertness and professionalism of customs officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis interception underscores the vigilance and professionalism of ZIMRA officers,\u201d the statement said, adding that officers play a critical role in safeguarding our borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities noted that the swift response by the team prevented a potential security threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe team\u2019s decisive action halted the illegal movement of the firearm,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The impact of the interception extends beyond the border post itself. According to the statement,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe interception directly protected communities and reinforced the safety and security of civil society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, travellers have been reminded of their legal obligations when crossing borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll travellers are legally required to declare all goods in their possession at the border,\u201d the authority said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
