The Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) is set to host a landmark event this weekend, blending the celebration of international womanhood with the royal game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In partnership with the FIDE Commission for Women\u2019s Chess, the federation will stage the Ladies Open Blitz Chess Tournament on Saturday, 14 March 2026, at the Dominican Convent High School in Harare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tournament, organized to mark Chess Women\u2019s Day 2026, promises to be a historic gathering for female chess players in the nation, highlighted by the presence of a distinguished international figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a significant boost for the local chess community, the event will feature Women Grandmaster Dana Reizniece-Ozola, the Deputy Chair of the FIDE Management Board. Beyond her administrative role in the World Chess Federation, Reizniece-Ozola is a decorated player and a former Minister of Economics of Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the event, she will deliver an inspirational talk to the participants, sharing her journey and insights on breaking barriers in the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
