{"id":12670,"date":"2026-03-06T07:14:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T07:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=12670"},"modified":"2026-03-06T07:14:42","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T07:14:42","slug":"23-unidentified-bodies-overstay-at-beitbridge-mortuary-police-publish-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zimgbcnews.co.zw\/?p=12670","title":{"rendered":"\u200e23 Unidentified Bodies Overstay at Beitbridge Mortuary, Police Publish Names"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sithembinkosi L Jiyane<br>Crimes &amp; Courts Reporter<br>www.zimgbcnews.co.zw<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities in Matabeleland South Province have published the names and details of 23 unclaimed bodies that have overstayed at the Beitbridge District Hospital Mortuary in an effort to facilitate identification and burial.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThe notice, confirms that the bodies include newborn babies, adult men and several unidentified individuals whose remains were brought to the mortuary during the course of 2025 and early 2026.<br>\u200e<br>The appeal was confirmed by Inspector Mguni, Acting Spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police in the province.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eAmong the deceased are newborn babies identified as Baby Nomsa Chibhala, who died on 16 June 2025 at Mwenezi Village Hospital; Baby Ropafadzo Pikisi, who died on 22 July 2025 at Bishopstone Estate Hospital; and Baby Lakimo Sibanda, who died on 18 August 2025 at Shashe Hospital.<br>\u200e<br>Also listed are Baby Esther Musaengani, who died on 22 February 2025 at 5772 New Stands Hospital; Baby Sylvia Ndlovu, who died on 18 June 2025 at 5627 Duli Hospital; and Baby Tanaka Msipa, who died on 4 April 2025 at Chapfunde Hospital.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThe list further includes Ndezvashe Mumbojo, a newborn female who died on 27 April 2025 at 72510 New Stands Quarry, Beitbridge, and Baby Tariro Mbire, who died on 7 November 2025 at an unknown hospital. In most of these cases, the cause of death was recorded as unknown.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eAdult individuals whose bodies remain unclaimed include Tawanda Linde, aged 30, who died on 7 February 2025; Lameck Dube, aged 44, who died on 19 March 2025 in Gokwe Village and was admitted through Bejani Hospital; and Simon Sthole, aged 30, who died on 8 September 2025. Their causes of death were recorded as unknown.<br>\u200e<br>\u200eThe remaining entries consist of unidentified persons, including adult males, a skeleton, and unidentified human remains. Several were brought in dead by police units, while one 30-year-old male died from severe head injuries following a road traffic accident.<br>\u200e<br>Another unidentified male was recorded as having died from acute respiratory failure linked to chemical ingestion.
