\u200e Two men have appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates Court facing a serious charge of attempted murder following a violent assault that allegedly took place in the city earlier this month.
\u200e
\u200eAccording to court documents filed at the Regional Court for the Province of Bulawayo, Emran Phiri (35) of Nkulumane 5 and Faston John (31) of Sizinda are accused of unlawfully attempting to kill Blessing Tinashe Kambashe (28), an unemployed resident of Sizinda.
\u200e
\u200eThe State alleges that on February 02, 2026, at around 1700hrs along 10th Avenue between H. Chitepo and Fort Street, the two accused, together with a third suspect identified only as Larry who is still at large, confronted Kambashe during what prosecutors describe as a misunderstanding.
\u200e
\u200eCourt papers state that the accused persons allegedly insisted that Kambashe, who was said to be intoxicated at the time, should go home. However, he reportedly did not comply with their instructions. The situation allegedly escalated into violence.
\u200e
\u200eProsecutors allege that the trio ganged up on the complainant and assaulted him repeatedly using open hands, clenched fists, a plastic chair and other unknown objects. The attack is said to have resulted in injuries all over his body.
\u200e
\u200eMembers of the public who were nearby reportedly intervened and assisted the complainant before he was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical treatment and examination. The medical report in the matter is said to still be outstanding.

\u200eFollowing investigations, police arrested Phiri and John, while efforts to locate the third suspect are ongoing.
\u200e
\u200eThe accused are charged with attempted murder as defined in Section 189(1)(a)(b), read together with Section 47(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
\u200e
The State alleges that the accused either intended to cause Kambashe\u2019s death or realised there was a real risk or possibility that death could result from their actions.
\u200eThe parties are not related.
\u200e
Further proceedings are expected once the medical report is submitted to the court. The accused persons remain before the courts as investigations continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
