DURBAN \u2013 Four Zimbabwean teachers and an unspecified number of children have been removed from schools in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, for lacking proper documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The revelation was made during a heated radio discussion on Ukhozi FM, highlighting the growing tension surrounding foreign nationals in South African schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussion featured Cyril Mncwabe, a provincial Home Affairs official, and Zinhle Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of the anti-immigrant vigilante group “March on March.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The debate centered on Ngobese-Zuma’s campaign to prioritize South African children for school enrollment over foreign nationals, specifically at Addington Primary School in Durban\u2014a site of recent violent protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In explaining immigration enforcement, Mncwabe stated,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have already removed about four Zimbabwean teachers in northern KwaZulu-Natal who were teaching without proper documentation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that children without legal status had also been removed from schools, emphasizing the department’s mandate to enforce immigration laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngobese-Zuma, advocating for her movement’s cause, argued that some foreign nationals use their children’s enrollment to avoid deportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Foreigners are bringing in their children and hiding behind their rights,” she claimed during the broadcast, pushing for stricter adherence to policies that place South African learners first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
