\u200eZimbabwe\u2019s table tennis community is set for an exciting year as the 2026 season officially gets underway, with the Zimbabwe Table Tennis Union (ZTTU) unveiling a series of domestic fixtures aimed at strengthening competition and growing the sport nationwide.

\u200eThe new season will open with various ranking and developmental tournaments in January and February, designed to give players early competitive action while helping selectors assess form across different categories. These events are expected to attract senior, junior and emerging players from across the country.

\u200eA major highlight on the calendar will come on February 28, 2026, when Zimbabwe hosts its first-ever Doubles and Mixed Doubles Tournament.
\u200e
\u200eThe historic event marks a strategic shift by ZTTU to broaden competitive formats, encourage teamwork and increase participation, particularly among young and developing players.
\u200e
\u200eBeyond local action, Zimbabwean table tennis has maintained a strong regional and continental presence. National team players and juniors recently represented the country at the Region 5 Games in Namibia and the ITTF African Youth Championships in Lagos, Nigeria, gaining valuable exposure against some of Africa\u2019s best talents.

\u200eOn the domestic front, traditional tournaments such as the Zim Closed Table Tennis Tournament, usually staged in December, and the popular Harare Open remain key fixtures on the annual calendar.
\u200e
\u200eCompetitive action has also continued through platforms like the Inter-Bank Games, often hosted at the University of Zimbabwe, where teams from major financial institutions battle for honours.
\u200e
\u200eMost national tournaments are staged at established venues including Harare Sports Club, the University of Zimbabwe, and the National Sports Stadium, which also houses the ZTTU headquarters.

\u200eWith a blend of innovation, continuity and international exposure, the 2026 season promises to be a defining year for Zimbabwean table tennis as the sport continues to grow in depth, visibility and competitiveness.
