Mangwe Rural District Council has issued a formal notice to all property owners and occupants within its jurisdiction, announcing a comprehensive door-to-door property inspection exercise set to begin on February 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a public notice, the council declared,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Mangwe Rural District Council will be conducting a door-to-door property inspection exercise throughout the district, commencing on the 1st of February 2026.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative marks a significant push by the local authority to formalize and regulate property ownership and standards across the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council outlined a multi-faceted purpose for the exercise, stating its goals are “in pursuit of the following: Updating our property database. Issuing Occupation Certificates to properties in full compliance, Issuing lease documents, Ensuring compliance with building standards and other relevant statutes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This move aims to rectify administrative gaps, provide official documentation to residents, and ensure all structures meet required safety and health codes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To facilitate the process, council teams will visit occupied properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our team will visit your property to: Conduct a visual inspection of your property, Verify property details and ownership, Issue relevant documents, such as Occupation Certificates and lease documents, to eligible property owners at a prescribed fee,” the notice explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council has called for full cooperation from the community, urging,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We encourage all property owners and occupants to cooperate with our staff during this exercise.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It further emphasized the importance of pre-emptive compliance, advising,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We urge all property owners and occupants to ensure that their properties are in full compliance with building standards, health regulations, and other relevant statutes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recognizing that some properties may not currently meet standards, the council has instituted a grace period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Those found occupying properties without full compliance will be given a 90-day grace period to rectify all outstanding issues,” the notice assures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the council has also issued a stern warning for those who neglect to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If you fail to bring your property into compliance within the 90-day grace period, you will be subject to penalties and legal implications, including but not limited to: Fines and penalties, Legal action, Disconnection of services.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure residents are informed, the council noted that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“A schedule will be shared in due course outlining the proposed dates per ward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
