HARARE \u2013 The chairman of ZANU PF’s Varakashi 4ED group in Mashonaland West, Levison Chambati, has made a stark political prediction, declaring that Zimbabwe\u2019s opposition will “completely disappear” this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement on Tuesday, Chambati forecast a dramatic erosion of rival political structures, framing 2026 as the year the opposition fades into irrelevance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy prophecy for 2026 is clear \u2014 the opposition and its supporters will have nothing to hold onto but empty hopes of change that will never come,\u201d Chambati stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He specifically targeted former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, alleging,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChamisa, as usual, will keep feeding his base with endless verses instead of a clear political plan, eventually relocating to America for good by year-end, leaving his loyalists confused and leaderless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chambati also commented on other prominent opposition figures, suggesting a future of diminished impact and defections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He claimed Fadzayi Mahere would continue to win \u201csocial media awards \u2014 not for impact, but for being the most consistently online opposition politician.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat digital energy, however, won\u2019t translate into real change, giving Zanu PF the perfect conditions to push forward with President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa\u2019s term extension to 2030,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding Job Sikhala, Chambati speculated,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019ll likely pull another dramatic stunt to attract foreign donors \u2014 maybe even stage another \u2018attack\u2019 like before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further predicted that Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume would \u201cofficially cross over and become Zanu PF Party District Chairman for Zone 4. Because Zanu PF ihomwe isingazari (the pot that never runs empty).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chambati asserted that a wider migration to the ruling party would follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOthers will quietly follow, leaving the opposition as a shell \u2014 a name on paper, with no structure, no strategy, and no future. Figures like Mwonzora, Biti, and Welshman Ncube will fade into political obscurity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded by dismissing the opposition\u2019s viability:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn short, 2026 will confirm one thing: there is no longer a viable opposition in Zimbabwe. No house, no foundation, and certainly no hope.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provocative prediction comes amid ongoing political realignments and ahead of the 2028 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
