MUSINA, South Africa \u2014 A multi-agency operation between the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) successfully recovered a stolen Ford Everest XLT, valued at approximately R940,000, from the Limpopo River earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident unfolded on the evening of January 5, 2026, when SAPS Border Police Reaction Team members, conducting crime-fighting operations near the border in Musina, witnessed a vehicle being driven directly into the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to poor visibility and timing, an immediate recovery was not possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police proceeded to a nearby Vehicle Control Point operated by soldiers from the 1 South African Tank Regiment to request backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Because of the timing and poor visibility\u2026 the joint operation was postponed to the morning,” said SAPS Captain Moses Semono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Needless to say, the scene of crime had to be guarded overnight.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following morning, with assistance from a civilian company, the joint team retrieved the luxury SUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was later confirmed that the vehicle, bearing false registration plates, had been reported stolen in Bela-Bela, Limpopo, on December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo, Colonel Dikgabane Herold Tladi, commended the members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Officer Commanding\u2026 commended the members for the job well done,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recovered vehicle has been moved to a SAPS pound for further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
