BULAWAYO – A 24-year-old taxi driver from Gwabalanda has been convicted of attempted murder following a violent attack on a passenger during a late-night fare dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amazing Grace Sibanda appeared before the Bulawayo Magistrates\u2019 Court, where he was found guilty of a vicious assault that left a 33-year-old man unconscious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred on 26 October 2025, around 11PM, at the corner of Herbert Chitepo Street and 6th Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the state\u2019s case, Sibanda had picked up the victim and two friends in a white Honda Fit. An argument over taxi fares broke out during the journey, prompting Sibanda to turn back to the original pickup point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival, Sibanda and two unidentified accomplices who are still at large, launched a violent assault on the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey used a sjambok, iron bars and bricks in the attack, beating the man until he lost consciousness\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sibanda was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. However, 3 months were suspended for five years, and the remaining 9 months were set aside on condition he performs 315 hours of community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) condemns the use of violence in resolving disputes and urges the public to settle differences peacefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cViolence will not be tolerated. The law will take its full course against those who resort to brutality\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
