Harare \u2013 The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued an official statement following a viral video circulating on social media, showing a heated confrontation between a motorist and police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the video, the unidentified driver appears to challenge and threaten police officers after being stopped for an alleged traffic offence. The footage sparked widespread online debate, prompting a response from law enforcement authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a press statement issued, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, urged drivers to remain calm and comply with police instructions when stopped on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that aggression, threats, or attempts to draw public sympathy through confrontational behaviour are not acceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no need for drivers to be confrontational, issue threats to fight or shoot police officers while seeking public sympathy,\u201dsaid Commissioner Nyathi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ZRP reiterated its commitment to professional conduct, stating that all officers deployed on traffic enforcement duties are expected to operate within proper standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the public who feel aggrieved by police conduct are encouraged to use formal complaint channels, including contacting the National Complaints Desk or visiting the nearest police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe public should feel free to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp on 0712 800 197 or report at any nearest Police Station\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police also called on motorists to play their part in promoting road safety by avoiding illegal practices such as stopping at undesignated areas, pirating, driving under the influence of alcohol, or disregarding traffic signals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
