Senator David Coltart has called on Zimbabweans to start the year with renewed patriotism, unity, and a commitment to national development.

\u200eHe urged citizens to put the country\u2019s interests above personal gain and political loyalty, emphasizing that Zimbabwe\u2019s potential can only be realized if its people work together.
\u200e
\u200eColtart highlighted the country\u2019s strengths, noting its educated and hardworking population, vast natural resources, scenic landscapes, favorable climate, and strategic location in Southern Africa. He stressed that these advantages could make Zimbabwe one of the wealthiest nations on the continent if citizens act in the national interest.

\u200e”Our nation should be the wealthiest in Africa, but that will only happen if we unite and commit ourselves to work for the common good,” he said.

\u200eThe senator also urged citizens to uphold the Constitution and respect the rule of law. He emphasized that laws should apply equally to all Zimbabweans, and that the protections enshrined in the 2013 Constitution, particularly those safeguarding fundamental rights, must be enforced without compromise.

\u200e”Respecting our Constitution and ensuring justice is applied fairly is the foundation of a stable and prosperous Zimbabwe,” Coltart said.

\u200eColtart warned against corruption and the culture of quick wealth, describing it as a major barrier to national growth. He encouraged Zimbabweans to embrace honesty, hard work, and innovation as the true sources of wealth, and to reject systems that protect and reward corrupt elites.

\u200e”We must abandon the get-rich-quick mentality and understand that true national wealth comes from hard work, ingenuity, and honesty,” he said.

\u200eFinally, he called on citizens to focus on policies rather than personalities and to adopt a nation-first mindset. He stressed that progress depends on asking what one can contribute to Zimbabwe rather than expecting personal benefits from the state.

\u200e”Our political choices should be guided by what is best for the country, not by who is in power, and each of us must ask: what can I do for Zimbabwe?” Coltart said.

\u200eSenator Coltart\u2019s message is a reminder that Zimbabwe\u2019s potential can only be realized when citizens put aside personal and political interests to work for the common good.
