Bulawayo – TJ Sibs is a Zimbabwean artist who is becoming a big name in music and fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born Thembinkosi Junior Sibanda, he uses the name TJ Sibs to remember his roots and his journey to success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His love for music started early in Bulawayo. As a child, he wrote poems and beatboxed with friends. He first realized music could be a real career after a funny incident: a friend organized a show for his group without telling them and made money from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t know she was making money off us,\u201d TJ laughs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He worked hard, teaming up with a producer to make his first song. His big break came with an album called \u201cNew Era,\u201d which got him featured in the Local News paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The album had storytelling hits like \u201cAlways\u201d and \u201cClosure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But his path wasn\u2019t easy. In Bulawayo, local hip-hop artists didn\u2019t get much support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople loved international hip-hop, but not so much from local artists,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fans would often just share his music online instead of buying it, which was discouraging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, one special moment kept him going:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor my grandmother to buy my album really motivated me to push hard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To take full control of his sound, TJ Sibs learned music production himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This led to more hits like \u201cDon\u2019t Force\u201d and \u201cGhetto Life.\u201d He draws inspiration from stars like Chris Brown and Zimbabwe\u2019s own Bling 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Music isn\u2019t his only talent. TJ Sibs is also a smart businessman. He runs a fashion line called TJ Creative Eye, which is growing popular in Zimbabwe\u2019s fashion world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn Bulawayo, you have be smart. Whenever I see an opportunity, I invest,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
