MBERENGWA \u2013 A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in the abdomen, leaving her intestines protruding, in a violent attack linked to a failed relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Village 3, under Chief Bvute. Police identified the suspect as Learnmore Magonza, who is currently on the run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the victim and Magonza had previously cohabited in Zvishavane before their relationship ended, prompting the teenager to return to her parents’ home in Mberengwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is alleged that the two were once lovers and stayed together in Zvishavane. The relationship later collapsed, prompting the girl to return to her parents\u2019 home,\u201d said Inspector Mahoko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police reports indicate that Magonza visited the girl’s home in an attempt to reconcile. When she refused, a heated argument ensued, culminating in the suspect allegedly drawing an okapi knife and stabbing her repeatedly in the abdomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe vicious attack left the girl\u2019s intestines protruding through a deep abdominal wound,\u201d Inspector Mahoko confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim was initially rushed to Mberengwa District Hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) due to the severity of her injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHer condition is reported to be serious,\u201d added Inspector Mahoko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Mberengwa is investigating the matter, and a manhunt has been launched for the suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector Mahoko used the incident to urge the public to seek peaceful conflict resolution and to adhere to the law regarding minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe appeal to people to find peaceful ways of resolving their differences. Violence is never a solution. It is also a criminal offence to engage in sexual relationships with minors under the age of 18,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police are appealing to anyone with information on Magonza\u2019s whereabouts to contact their nearest police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
