He revealed that both ZEC and Chivhayo had categorically denied having any business relationship.

“ZEC told us they do not know these people. They have not done any business with them,” Reza said, emphasizing that investigators were shown no contracts, agreements, or documents linking the accused parties to the electoral body.

Regarding Chivhayo, Reza added,

“He said he does not know these two guys. He knows them socially, but not in terms of business.”

The allegations gained traction after disclosures in South Africa indicated that Ren-Form CC, a Johannesburg-based printing company contracted for the 2023 elections, received over R1.1 billion from Zimbabwe’s Treasury, with more than R800 million allegedly channeled into accounts connected to Chivhayo.

However, ZACC stated that these suspicions could not be substantiated with concrete evidence within Zimbabwe’s jurisdiction.

Reza expressed frustration over the lack of documented proof, noting,

“A contract is the document that links two people to a business transaction. There is no such document. We have nothing to go by.”

He also criticized the complainants for failing to provide evidence to support their claims.

“These guys have made allegations, but they have not supplied us with any information that would link these people to the commission of the alleged fraud,” Reza said.

The announcement marks a significant deceleration in one of Zimbabwe’s most widely followed corruption cases, leaving the allegations unresolved due to what ZACC describes as an absence of prosecutable evidence.

Follow us for more global news from an African perspective:
· X (Twitter): @ZimGbc
·Instagram: @ZimGBCNews
·TikTok: @ZimGBCNews_01
·Facebook: Zim GBC News
·YouTube: Zim GBC News

Get real-time alerts on WhatsApp:
+263 773 820 323

For in-depth coverage, visit our website: www.zimgbcnews.co.zw

Zim GBC News | Global News

Zim GBC News | Harare Correspondent HARARE – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has announced that it has found no evidence linking businessman Wicknell Chivhayo to alleged fraudulent dealings with…

[109

post-11200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
