BULAWAYO \u2014 In a powerful demonstration of community resilience, local authorities held a massive campaign at Cowdray Park on December 6, coinciding with the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event featured the Department of Cyber Crime, which educated residents on digital gender-based violence and provided critical presentations aimed at empowering the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ZRP Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, reported remarkable achievement:
\u201cFrom December 5 of last year to January 5 of this year, there have been no murder cases in Cowdray Park. This is largely due to the proactive efforts of our neighborhood watch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This encouraging statistic highlights a significant decrease in violence in a city previously burdened by crime, showcasing the positive impact of community vigilance and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assistant Inspector Ncube Talenta, coordinator of the Victim Friendly Unit for Bulawayo Central, addressed important issues surrounding sexual rights and consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSexual intercourse is not a crime when both parties consent. It only becomes one when it involves a minor or lacks mutual agreement,\u201d
Talenta explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She urged adults to prioritize the protection of children, sharing that the police support minors in such cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBe cautious and always ask for valid identification to prevent misunderstandings that could lead to serious legal ramifications,\u201d
Talenta emphasized, reminding the community of their responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
