HARARE \u2014 The Government has strongly refuted allegations made by opposition figure Job Sikhala against Zimbabwe’s judiciary, describing them as desperate attempts to cultivate political sympathy and relevance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sikhala, who was recently arrested in South Africa for possession of blasting cartridges and capped fuse connectors, made veiled attacks on Zimbabwe’s judicial system after being granted bail in Pretoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Here there are no feja feja things,” Sikhala told media, suggesting South Africa’s judiciary was more independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere responded sharply to these claims in an interview with ZBC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Zimbabwe’s Judiciary is independent, impartial and fair,” Dr Muswere stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“But what you should always be reminded is that Mr Jobless, sorry Mr Job Sikhala, is an attention-seeking acolyte for melodrama, for tomfoolery, cults and false prophecies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister characterized Sikhala’s rhetoric as part of a calculated campaign to regain political traction after being sidelined by opposition colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As he fundraises for his book and his new political outfit, having been rejected by his political allies as a failed politician, we should always be reminded that at some point recently, he was imitating and mimicking one of Africa’s greatest sons, who was an icon,” Dr Muswere said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further suggested that Sikhala’s conduct reflected deeper issues, stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The warring parties, the manifestations in terms of both psychotic and non-psychotic disorders, which have resulted with Mr Job Sikhala’s belief in his false prophecies and dreams, show that all his narrow-minded dreams will not translate into reality.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Muswere emphasized that state institutions operate professionally and constitutionally, urging the public to be wary of narratives designed to inflame emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Zimbabwe’s institutions of governance stand firm, and misleading theatrics will not replace truth,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sikhala is expected to return to a South African court in February next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
