HARARE \u2013 The Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee has handed down heavy fines to Ngezi Platinum Stars FC, their head coach Takesure Chiragwi, and player Kudzai Chigwida following incidents during their Castle Lager PSL match against Dynamos FC at Rufaro Stadium on 4 October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club was found guilty of disturbing the normal proceedings of a game and improper behaviour by their players and technical team, resulting in a US$5,000 fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a landmark decision, Head Coach Takesure Chiragwi pleaded guilty to charges of violent and disorderly conduct and improper behaviour likely to bring the league into disrepute. He was fined US$4,000, with US$1,000 suspended on condition that he attends anger management lessons with an organization approved by the PSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Disciplinary Committee took cognisance of the coach’s public apology to the player, the League and all stakeholders. The Committee also considered his accountability, remorse and the punitive internal disciplinary measures already instituted by his Club without delay.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Committee further noted Chiragwi’s suspension from official duties and his voluntary decision to step down from his position as Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team Assistant Coach during the recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Player Kudzai Chigwida was found guilty of ungentlemanly conduct and improper utterances to a match official and fined US$100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judgment underscores the PSL’s commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism in the league, with the unusual requirement for anger management lessons setting a new precedent for dealing with technical staff misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
