BULAWAYO \u2013 Two men, Gift Makonese (35) and Ayanda Ncube (32), have appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates\u2019 Court facing charges of unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs, after being found in possession of 25 packets of dagga allegedly smuggled from South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the court\u2019s case, on 11 July 2025, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics in Beitbridge received a tip-off that a Godzilla bus from South Africa was transporting a white sack suspected to contain dagga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bus reportedly arrived in Bulawayo around 7:28 PM and parked along Fife Street, between 6th Avenue and Leopold Takawira Avenue, where it began offloading goods and passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDetectives from Beitbridge and Bulawayo teamed up to monitor the sack\u2019s delivery\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Makonese was allegedly spotted collecting the sack, and walking towards a parked Blue Honda Fit. He was intercepted by detectives before reaching the vehicle and was arrested on the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFurther investigations led to the arrest of Ncube, who was allegedly the intended recipient of the sack\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon searching the bag at CID Drugs Bulawayo, police recovered 25 sealed plastic packets of loose dagga, weighing a total of 12.5 kilograms. The drugs were documented and seized under the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pair faces charges under Section 156(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23], which criminalizes the unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both accused persons remain in custody with pending further court proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
