GWERU \u2013 A 21-year-old man from Mkoba suburb has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sodomising a 13-year-old boy in a case that has drawn strong condemnation from authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed that the offence occurred on October 28, 2025, after the perpetrator befriended the minor at a local tuckshop and lured him to a secluded area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile on the way in a secluded area, the offender removed his trousers and started touching the victim inappropriately,\u201d the NPAZ said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDespite the victim\u2019s clear refusal and discomfort, the offender proceeded to forcibly undress the victim and engaged in anal penetration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court heard that the teenager managed to escape and immediately reported the assault to his aunt, leading to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of the offender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a strong warning to potential offenders, the prosecuting authority declared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPaedophiles have no place in our community! The NPAZ urges all members of the society to take swift action in reporting cases of sexual abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 15-year sentence has been welcomed by child rights advocates who emphasize the importance of harsh penalties for crimes against minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
